Women’s History Month

It’s now March, which means it’s also Women’s History Month! A chance to celebrate and remember women and women’s history (though this of course should also happen every month). To kick off Women’s History Month, @MuseumHour asked me to guest host their #MusuemHour, an online chat held every Monday between 8-9pm (GMT). For an hour we talked all things women in museums; as visitors, staff and subjects. Huge thanks to Sophie and Tehmina for inviting me to join in, and thanks to all those who took part. I’ve Storified the discussion, which you can see here. It was very clear that women in museums is a huge issue, and I really hope this is a topic that continues to be raised the year round.

There’s a number of history events going on across the UK to mark Women’s History Month, as well as International Women’s Day (March 8), but I couldn’t find a list of links or events nationwide, so I’ve begun to compile one here. There is an excellent list here on events going on in East London too, so do check that out.

Thank you to everyone who tweeted and messaged me with suggestions. I know there are many events missing, so please do comment or tweet with links and details about any women’s history events.
